Zodiac chlorinator swimming pool Zodiac chlorinator swimming No worries with a clearwater chlorinator
What is a chlorinator?

Why are chlorinators so popular?

What chlorinator brand should I choose?

A chlorinator is a device producing chlorine by using the process of electrolysis to break Sodium Chloride (or Salt) up into Sodium and Chlorine gas.  The chlorine gas is produced as often as the pool pump circulates water.

A "salt pool" has the following advantages:

  • It is convenient with Automatic Sanitation, day in and day out
  • It eliminates the need to purchase, store, add and handle chlorine 99% of the time
  • It makes swimming pool maintenance much easier
  • It saves you time
  • And money

The following chlorinator brands have been evaluated by Swemgat in terms of availability of replacement parts; warranty and after-sales service; performance and price:

  • Chloromatic and Clearwater made in Australia
  • Eze-Chloor, JustChlor and Poolmaid manufactured in South Africa; and
  • IntelliChlor manuafactured in the United States of America.

 Chlorinator installation diagram

Installation is easy, just keep the following in mind:

  • That the chlorinator is the last device in the water circulation line, and is therefore connected after the water has been heated.
  • Initially 50kg of salt is required per 10 000 Litre
    of water
  • That is impotant to read the manufacturer's manual for detail installation instructions before you start with the installation
