Now, let us talk about heating your private swimming pool or spa at home with FREE energy fom the sun.  Swemgat started in 1998 as
a provider of Hot Water Solutions, making swimming pool heating the area in which we are most experienced!

Solar pool heating systems are the most economical, and environmental friendly systems available that absorb free solar energy to heat
the water when it circulate through the panels. These system are highly recommended for use in all South African locations.
Solar panels are normally installed on a building's roof. Ground level installations on stands are also possible when enough roof space is not
available or for properties with thatched roofs.

The existing pool pump is normally used for circulation of the water through the panels, with a power rating of 0.75Kw for single storey
and 1.1Kw for double storey roofs. SkyGeyser® / Sun Command panels are made from durable UV stabilized polypropylene with a life
expectancy of 12 years.

Electrical alternatives are Heat Pumps and Pool Element Heating. Element heating is only practical for spas and small pools,
while heatpumps are widely used at gyms, indoor and outdoor pools. Heat pumps are about 80% more economical on
electricy consumption when compared with an element pool heating system of the same power rating (kilowatt).

Solar pool heating

Pool blankets or the so-called solar pool covers as illustrated above, are however still the cheapest method to heat you pool.
In full sun you can expect a temperature gain of about 5 Degrees Celsius in the water temperature. Most heat loss takes place
during the evening, which could be prevented by using a heat retention cover (pool blanket).
