Fibreglass swimming pools was made famous by Penguin Pools in South Africa.

Many home owners however have the perception that an interior fibreglass finish could only be achieved with a pre-manufactured pool shell - THIS IS NOT TRUE.  Pre-moulded or factory made pool shells are limited to standard shapes, where with concrete your budget and our imagination is the only limits. 

Swemgat specialise in the construction of handpacked custom-made concrete swimming pools with a fibreglass or marble plaster lining. We can assist you with the design of the perfect swimming pool at your home, guesthouse or lodge. A sales consultant will assist you to decide on the architectual layout; decorative finishes, pool and garden lighting; water features, energy saving pump & filtration systems; solar or electric pool heating system; a water treatment plan and after-sales maintenance programme.

Major benefits of fibreglass linings:

• Stain resistance:  Non-porous fibreglass surfaces resists stains, but if stains however occur due to a chemical imbalance of the water (Total Alkalinity, pH, Hardness) removal thereof are easy.
• Compatibility with all pool water treatment systems: Any standard or non-standard swimming pool water treatment systems works well with fibreglass linings, including chlorine; saltwater chlorination; ozonination and fresh water systems.
• Easier pool cleaning due to the smooth surface which makes the removal of algae easier.

Major disadvantages of fibreglass linings:

• A limited colour range of 2 standard colours are recommended (white or poolblue). Other colours could be specially mixed, but fading of these non-standard colours is likely to occur..
• Risk of swimmers slipping on a very smooth surface - you can request a non-slip surface on steps to overcome this risk
• Multi-layer delamination is the most common problem which occurs when fibreglass layers move away from each other. Experienced pool builders and factories following well defined quality control procedures have reduced the occurrence of this potential problem to less than 1.5% of the production volume

• Fully installed prices below includes: Removal of soil at a cost of R2500 to R6000; installation of a 250mm coping tile around pool; a complete pump and filtration system; standard pool light; 2 inlet aimflo jets; Seir; electrical DB board with timer and 10m electrical cable connection to main DB board (without electrician's Certificae Of Compliance that is optional @ R750.00) and manual pool cleaning equipment. Installation excludes the use of cranes; digging in hard soil; removal of rocks; special rock breaking equipment and provision for removal of ground/spring water systems.  All prices are applicable in Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Randburg, Witbank and Middelburg.
• Heated pool price: Included all items listed under the "fully installed prices" plus the installation of a solar pool heating system on a single storey house or energy efficient heatpump with a floating solar pool blanket for heat retention purposes. The heating system provided for is sufficient to add about 8 to 12 degrees increase in water temperature when the pool is located outdoors in full sun. 
• Other items that will be needed are: A good Baracuda / Kreepy or other make Automatic Pool Cleaner, click here for prices

• Luxury items that should be considered are: (1) Adding a automatic water topup system to eliminate damage to your pool pump when running dry at +-R1500; (2) a saltwater chlorinator to automatically add chlorine to your pool thereby helping to keep the water hygienic and sparkling blue for +-R8000; (3) a small fountain or waterfeature as focus-point priced from R2500; and (4) a 'endless swimming stream' or counterstream pump for continuous swimming exercise whenever you feel like it at +-R43000
• Normal installation time: 2 Weeks
• A standard 5 year warranty on the construction of the pool shell is included, excluding colour fading, subject to annual servicing of the pool by a Swemgat technician. 1 Year on pipes and pump system applies.
  
• 10 Year warranty optional. An additional 5 year warranty on the construction of the pool shell can be added before completion of installation at a minimal fee of R1800.00 to give you peace of mind.
  

STRAWBERRY DELIGHT swimming pool shape with its elegant curves is a pre-moulded designed with luxrious swimming in mind. The pool edge should be finished off with a coping tile or paver not larger than 250mm x 250mm to go smoothly around the corners and turns. Large concrete flagstones positioned in straight lines behind the coping tiles are recommended, alternatively a combination of wooden deck and tiles provides a modern look.
